Shanghai, November 5-10, 2024 – The 7th China International Import Expo (CIIE) is in full swing at the Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center, bringing together approximately 3,500 exhibitors from 129 countries and regions, including 297 companies from the Fortune Global 500. This year’s event has showcased over 400 new products, technologies, and services, making it the most expansive and diverse CIIE to date. On November 10, the expo concluded with active transactions, reaching $80.1 billion in intended deals.
In the National Exhibition Pavilion, 77 countries and international organizations from five continents presented a rich tapestry of cultural and technological displays across 30,000 square meters. Each booth highlighted unique national elements, blending culture, heritage, and technology, drawing in large crowds with over 200 live activities and offering a deep dive into each country’s advantages across various fields.

Visitors could engage with exclusive CIIE-themed AR experiences, capturing interactive photos and even creating custom AR passes. The unique installation attracted attention from mainstream media, including CCTV, as well as international embassy representatives from France, Fiji, Chile, Korea, Japan, and Hong Kong.

- AI in E-Commerce and New Retail: Steven Zhang, Kivisense CEO and panel moderator, highlighted how AI is transforming e-commerce, especially during major events like China’s “Double 11” shopping festival. Applications: Michael, Head of Eco Investment of a giant AI company, discussed the importance of data security and how AI is used to filter sensitive content. He also introduced AI-driven virtual human projects, which have been applied across various sectors, including virtual concerts that bring emotional value to the public. He highlighted ongoing efforts to merge AI with XR technologies, such as innovative products like mobile photo frames and AI-powered coffee machines that offer consumers unique and personalized experiences.
New Experiences with AR at CIIE
Navigating the sprawling 360,000 square-meter “Four-Leaf Clover” CIIE venue has become easier with the introduction of AR digital navigation. By selecting desired destinations within the “Navigation” menu, visitors can access precise directions to booths, restrooms, and facilities. The “In-Venue Navigation” system recreates the center’s layout, providing clear routes to chosen locations, while the “AR Real-View Navigation” option displays live directions and targeted booth locations.
For this year’s CIIE, Kivisense also launched a special AR badge template.
